ResourcesWhile you're in Los Angeles be sure to visit Angels Attic. It's a museum of antique doll houses and dolls. The web site is www.angelsattic.com . I know it is the only museum of doll houses in the cities you are visiting.

There is a fantastic dollhouse store in a suburb of SF called Novato. It is over the Golden Gate Bridge (which in itself is a great place to see) about 30 minutes north of the city. It is called Dollhouse, trains and more. They have a web site so you can get exact directions. The dollhouse section is great and they have a wonderful train exhibit.

Don't miss Larriannes Small Wonders in Ventura CA, just a 50 minute drive from Los Angeles. It's the best.

If you go on the website there will be directions, address, phone, etc.

Thin 'glass' Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

ResourcesIf you just want small pieces of thin glass go to a college book store and buy a pack of microscope slides. There are quite a few in a box and shouldn't be too expensive.

Thin acrylic sheets you can get at the craft shop and they work well too. I bought an inexpensive little tool to score and snap the acrylic. I think
Larry Marshall had a bunch of information on that earlier. Check the archives.

Statues & Figures Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

ResourcesStatues & Figures: My tip is obvious to those of you who have been doing this for a while, but thought some newbies would appreciate this. I found some fabulous figures for my house at the Dungeons & Dragons Dept. of my local hobby store. They're lead and hold paint well. I used primer then used acrylic to paint them, then 2 coats of water-based varnish to give them a porcelain look. I found a couple of Medieval women, a Cavalier playing a lute, St. George & Dragon, etc. They're very fiddly to paint, but that's half the fun, right?
