StructuresI have several that work very well. My husband bought the wood rounds and you can either stain them or paint them. You can also buy the rings with the ball bearings in them. They are very easy to make and glide real well. These can be purchased at Lowe's or Home Depot.

StructuresI love my Zero Clearance Turntable. Can be seen at:
http://www.zcturntable.com Kinda expensive to have it shipped, but it is heavy and well made. Perfect for turning a dollhouse and having it sit against a wall instead of in the middle of a room.

dh display + storage Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

StructuresI have one very large house and two a little smaller in 1 inch scale. I've created "islands". Buy 2 inexpensive wooden microwave carts (like at KMart) and a cheap hollow core door. Lay the door with a cart at each end. These carts usually have shelves or cupboards underneath for storage. Also the plastic drawer units fit underneath on either side, between the carts, for a lot more storage.

On the very large house I stapled a sheet to the door and trimmed it to the floor. Looks nice and you can't see the storage units.

Turntable for dh display Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

StructuresIf you have enough space to turn the dollshouse, it might be worth investing in a turntable (sold for TV's and microwaves) these are fairly cheap and as long as you have a strong baseboard to the dollshouse, allow you access to both front and back, without having to pick up the dollshouse every time you want to turn it round. I have a turntable under my dollshouse and don't know how I would have managed without it. At least this way the furniture inside the dollshouse doesn't tip over every time you move the dollshouse itself!

Book Roomboxes Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

StructuresBook Roombox: I found an old set of encyclopedias at a yard sale for $5. We have chosen #23 for one teacher, cause that is also her room #. I haven't
started yet but was thinking about this process. (promised the li'l one we would start this weekend.

1. Open the hardback cover

2. Mark where you want the 4 corners and drill a hole through all pages. Make sure you don't drill through the back by masking taping your drill bit to the
depth you want.

3. Slice with a SHARP blade from utility knife or x-acto.

4. Now that the pages are cut flip through them and spray with glue as you flip

5. Gesso the front page and inside you have cut.

6. We have been collecting school items for ours and will be making a shadow box effect display of their favorite things. Some like science, math, biology, etc. We will be cutting matboard and tonguing it together by cutting a slot 1/2 way thru each piece. If anyone has a better way, mine hasn't been started yet, so am open to suggestions and undoing my mistakes before I do them!
